Ameal Reserva
Complex - White 2020
DOP Vinho Verde – Lima Sub-Region
Quinta do Ameal is a historic estate in the Vinho Verde region, specifically in the Lima River Valley, with written records dating back as far as 1710. Fourteen of the estate’s 30 hectares, stretching 800 metres along the riverbanks, are planted with Loureiro grapes. Over the years, this vineyard has become a pioneer in demonstrating this variety’s capacity to produce high-quality white wines.
Concept
Coming exclusively from the Marinhas plot on the estate, this complex and textured wine showcases Loureiro’s ability to produce great quality wines with excellent ageing potential. 3.950 bottles were produced.
Harvest
The agricultural year began rainy and colder than usual. July was warmer and drier, which hastened ripening. Milder August temperatures in conjunction with mid-month rain were key to restoring balance to the fruit. These conditions enabled the optimal level of ripeness and concentration, while preserving the region’s characteristic acidity. The harvest began on September 7th, one week earlier than usual.
